Cookie Policy

Last updated: 14 March 2026

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the website operator.

2. Our Approach to Cookies

RecruiterRank takes a privacy-first approach. We only use strictly necessary cookies that are essential for the Platform to function. We do not use:

  • Tracking cookies — We do not track you across websites
  • Advertising cookies — We do not serve targeted ads
  • Analytics cookies — Our analytics system (Cloudflare Analytics Engine) is entirely cookieless and does not use any cookies or client-side tracking
  • Third-party marketing cookies — We do not allow any third-party marketing tools to set cookies

3. Cookies We Use

The following table lists all cookies that may be set when you use RecruiterRank:

Cookie Name Purpose Duration Type
session Authenticates your signed-in session. Set when you sign in with LinkedIn. Contains an encrypted session token. 24 hours Strictly necessary
cf_clearance Set by Cloudflare Turnstile after completing a bot protection challenge. Confirms you have been verified as a legitimate user. Up to 30 minutes Strictly necessary (functional)
__cf_bm Set by Cloudflare for bot management. Helps distinguish between humans and automated traffic. Up to 30 minutes Strictly necessary (functional)

All cookies set by RecruiterRank use the following security flags:

  • HttpOnly: Not accessible via JavaScript, preventing cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks
  • Secure: Only transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
  • SameSite=Strict: Not sent with cross-site requests, preventing cross-site request forgery (CSRF)

4. Why We Don't Show a Cookie Consent Banner

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), cookie consent is only required for cookies that are not strictly necessary for the operation of the website. Since RecruiterRank only uses strictly necessary cookies (session authentication and bot protection), we are not required to display a cookie consent banner.

This is consistent with guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which states that strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. However, if you block the cookies listed above, some features of RecruiterRank may not function correctly — specifically, you will not be able to sign in.

For more information about managing cookies, visit aboutcookies.org.

6. Changes to This Policy

If we introduce any new cookies in the future, we will update this policy and, if required by law, obtain your consent before setting them. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "last updated" date.

7. Contact Us
